San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) December 29, 2011
Integrated Science Program (ISP)?, a division of Lifelong Education Institute (LEI), is playing a major role in filling a gap in the U.S. economy and the national healthcare infrastructure.
It is a well known fact that the U.S. currently has a shortage of doctors, nurses, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals. This trend will only get worse as baby boomers get older and as healthcare becomes more widely available to Americans.
Presently, the US has both a high unemployment rate and jobs that are going unfilled. ISP offers an effective solution to this paradox by creating a way for adult workers to retrain and retool their skill sets so that they can better meet this growing demand. ?Specifically, Integrated Science Program offers working adults a chance to learn science easier and quicker than traditional methods. These classes fulfill pre-requisites that can be transferred to healthcare programs at universities across the U.S.,? explained Dr. Francisco Leite who is one of the key founders of the ISP concept and a critical driving force behind its success.
Since 2008, hundreds of working adults have enrolled in ISP on a monthly basis, obtained the necessary knowledge and skills to change their careers and entered the healthcare workforce with confidence and success.
?When the real estate market crashed, I decided to get a second career – go back to school and get my nursing degree,? said one former pre-nursing student. ?I investigated further with ISP. I found out they were accredited, which was very important to me and my college, and decided to go there because it worked around my schedule of work, was convenient, and quick. It is a very, very good education. Great instructors. Everybody is in the medical field and so, as a nurse, you have networking opportunities for later on.?
These accredited science classes qualify not only as pre-requisites for many major universities, but also serve as a solid foundation of knowledge in areas of anatomy and physiology, microbiology, chemistry, biology, physics and other classes that are normally difficult for most people. This is because the ISP format teaches materials more effectively – in a block format, one subject at a time.
?The classes were extremely thorough,? said one alumnus. ?I learned more in my anatomy and physiology classes through the ISP program than I did in my other classes in college.?
For one month students focus their attention on just one course; very similar to medical school and many summer programs. By following this format, not only do those who sign-up for ISP classes get course credit in just four weeks time, but they retain and learn the subject matter much quicker and better.
This allows students to take a majority of their prerequisite science courses in just months and not years. It also ideally prepares graduates for their next chapter in life ? be it a career in nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy, medicine, or any other health care related profession.
?When I became aware of the huge gap in the health care educational system and its direct correlation to the shortage of health care professionals, I decided to do something about it,? said Dr. Leite. ? I believe the most expedient solution is to help students learn more effectively and efficiently and move them into the work force as quickly as possible. This is the primary aim of ISP. I don?t know of any other health science program taking this approach.? Dr. Leite leverages 30 years of experience in the educational field with a focus on improving educational systems and developing new approaches and methods.
Integrated Science Program (ISP), a division of Lifelong Education Institute (LEI) with headquarters in San Francisco, CA is currently being offered under contract with Southern California University Health Sciences, accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges, and is currently expanding its offering to other parts in the country in partnership with other universities and accredited educational institutions.

Toronto, ON and New York, NY (PRWEB) December 27, 2011
Precision Nutrition, the world?s leading online nutrition coaching and certification company, announces a sneak preview of the online Lean Eating Coaching Program, a body transformation program that begins January 4, 2012 and includes $ 75,000 in prizes.
?For the first time, we?re offering a look behind the curtain. Our Facebook page demo shows exactly how we?ve achieved success for over 7,000 clients worldwide,” said John M. Berardi, Chief Science Officer of Precision Nutrition.
?This goes way beyond the usual New Year?s resolutions that are quickly forgotten,” says Berardi. Lecturing and hectoring people about weight loss doesn?t work. He calls that approach ?condescending and kind of annoying.?
A better approach is giving people something to aim for: big, inspiring goals. That?s always been the basis of Lean Eating.
?So that?s why we put our money where our mouth is,? says Berardi. Precision Nutrition will award $ 75,000 in cash prizes. The male and female grand prize winners will each receive $ 25,000. An additional $ 25,000 will be shared by 34 other winners.
Precision Nutrition doesn?t believe in conventional diet plans. Instead, its online platform and personalized coaching build diets one very small piece at a time, in ways that integrate workouts and habit tracking. Participants receive detailed nutrition and exercise instruction from world class coaches, access to private online forums, and all the benefits of lessons learned from the world?s largest body transformation study.
In recent days, Berardi has been addressing issues raised by prospective members. Among the concerns: I?m in terrible shape. Or: I?m in great shape. Or: I know a lot about nutrition. Or: I know nothing about nutrition. Or: I can?t make the link between knowing and doing. Or: I don?t want to join a gym. Or: I?m recovering from an injury. Or: I have special dietary needs. Or: I have to travel a lot for business.
Berardi?s response is that most special needs can be accommodated. That?s the whole point of a personalized coaching program aimed at changing habits. And Precision Nutrition is very different from other programs.
?How is it different? Oh gosh, where do I begin?? wrote Berardi in a recent bulletin board reply.
?For starters, it?s actual coaching. Most fitness coaching programs are simply: ‘Here?s a diet, here?s a workout, go do it.’ That?s not coaching. And according to every single piece of change research, that doesn?t work. So we don?t do that. Instead we encourage your long-term development by helping you build new practices ? that are fun ? slowly, and over time. That?s why our success rate is so high. And our clients stay in shape long after the program ends. The coaching, the community support, the access to a coaching team, the use of actual change psychology, the understanding that people have real lives to live outside of the gym?that?s what makes Leaning Eating different.”
But Precision Nutrition has only enough staff to provide superb coaching to just a few hundred new clients each round. The last Lean Eating coaching group, which costs $ 99 and $ 99 per month for 12 months, sold out in 24 hours.
That?s why a waiting list is now open for the Lean Eating Program that opens for public registration on January 4, 2012. Those on the waiting list get to register 24 hours before everyone else.
So watch this video of what happened when last year?s winners were surprised by their coaches ? and giant checks.
And start thinking about what you might do with $ 25,000.

With more people throwing holiday parties at home this year, it’s time to learn to mix drinks like a pro. A new video cocktail course, The Everyday Guide to Spirits and Cocktails: Tastes and Traditions, is packed with instructional cocktail videos on how to make hand-crafted, old-school cocktails. This holiday, anyone can make expert Christmas cocktails, says The Great Courses.
While some cocktail courses can be expensive and time consuming, this video course ? available on DVD and as a digital video download from just $ 27.95 ? delivers a fun, fast, and affordable education in spirits and cocktails.
Certified Specialist of Spirits Jennifer Simonetti-Bryan stars in this video guide to cocktails. She says, “Making cocktails doesn’t have to be intimidating. If you don’t have the time or money to sign up for mixology courses, learn a handful of simple cocktail recipes that you can remember easily. It’s important to have fun while making cocktails. If you know the basics, you can experiment and impress your friends as you mix their drinks.”
Below are three classic holiday cocktail recipes that suit all tastes and are easy to learn:
Hot Toddy
As soon as the first snows appear, it’s Hot Toddy season. Perfect for cold days and nights, the Hot Toddy warms you up from the inside and delights with spicy, honeyed, and buttered flavor notes.
The original Hot Toddy recipe calls for:
????1? oz. brandy or rum (or ? oz. of each)
????1 tsp. honey (or more to taste)
????? oz. lemon juice
Combine the ingredients in a mug and fill with hot water or tea. Yum!
Variations include the Hot Buttered Rum, which adds a creamy flavor and texture to the drink by replacing the honey and lemon juice with sugar and butter. You can also make the classic and experiment with spices ? how about a dash of cinnamon or ginger?
Poinsettia
Not everybody likes creamy cocktails, so here’s a fruity option. Named for the traditional Christmas flower, this holiday champagne cocktail serves as a light and bubbly aperitif.
The ingredients are:
????2 oz. cranberry juice
????4 oz. champagne
????? oz. Cointreau
Pour the cranberry juice into a champagne flute and fill with champagne. For a colorful effect, top it with a float of Cointreau by layering it on top of the drink without letting it mix with the juice and Champagne. The best way to do this is to use a pourer curved up, touching the glass to allow the Cointreau to float on top. If you don’t have a pourer, touch an upside-down spoon to the glass and slowly pour the Cointreau over it.
Eggnog
This traditional Christmas cocktail conjures up images of sitting by the fire on a cold night. The original version can be tricky if you’re not confident using raw eggs. This “Faux Eggnog” is just as delicious, and it’s quick and easy, so you have more time to enjoy the party!
You’ll need:
????1 oz. vodka
????1 oz. white cr?me de cacao
????2 oz. heavy cream
????3 dashes Angostura(R) bitters
Shake the ingredients well with ice. Strain over crushed ice into an Irish coffee glass. Dust with freshly grated nutmeg.

New Orleans, La. (PRWEB) December 21, 2011
Loyola University New Orleans became the first university in Louisiana to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree, following a unanimous vote by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing on Wednesday, Dec. 14 in Baton Rouge. Loyola?s School of Nursing has been developing and promoting the program and its curriculum for nearly a year, which concluded with a site visit from board officials last month to finalize the state approval process.
The B.S.N to D.N.P. program is an example of the reality of the nation?s changing health care options. Before this program was offered, nurses in Louisiana wanting to receive a D.N.P. degree were required to first obtain a master?s degree. Now, nurses wishing to receive the doctoral degree can receive their D.N.P. degree by completing this three-year, 78 credit hour program and then be eligible for certification as a family nurse practitioner.
?There are so many people out there right now without proper access to primary health care. So, with the need for more primary care providers, our professional societies have determined that nurse practitioners need to step up and fill that need,? said Loyola associate professor Cynthia Collins, Ph.D., A.P.R.N., A.N.P.-B.C., G.N.P. ?The research suggests, and our professional societies are recommending, that we train our nurse practitioners at a higher level to meet that mandate.?
The program is offered in an online format, enabling working nurses to advance their careers in their communities, while simultaneously continuing their education.
The deadline for applications for the B.S.N. to D.N.P. program is Feb. 1, 2012, with orientation set for April and classes slated to begin in May of 2012.
To learn more about the D.N.P. program or to apply, visit the School of Nursing and select doctoral program or contact Elena Ransom at 504-865-2499 or eransom(at)loyno(dot)edu.

Bonita Springs, FL (PRWEB) December 20, 2011
Howie Lindeman was facing the loss of his career and Neim Malo wasn?t supposed to see 2011. They were each treated for heart disease years ago using their own stem cells to repair their damaged heart tissue. Several years following treatment from Regenocyte, both men continue to see improvement in their condition and quality of life.
Howie Lindeman, 60, had a heart attack at 39 years old that severely damaged his heart. He went through several procedures including having stents placed in his arteries and his physicians were considering open heart surgery for a quintuple bypass. He was in constant pain and struggled to walk just 25 feet, but when Zannos G. Grekos, MD, MAAC, FACC, chief medical officer of Regenocyte and a Florida-based pioneer in the field of adult stem cell therapy suggested he have the Regenocyte Adult Stem Cell procedure, he jumped at the opportunity. A normal ejection fraction (EF) is over 50 percent and Lindeman?s was down to a dangerous 22 percent before the adult stem cell procedure. Shortly after receiving treatment, his EF improved to a near-normal 47 percent, and is now at a stable 54 percent.
Neim Malo, 54, suffered a heart attack at 47 years old. He had three stents put in and was told by doctors that he would only live five more years. He refused to accept such a grim fate, so he searched for alternative treatment and found adult stem cell therapy. Malo?s EF was at 28 percent when he received adult stem cell treatment in 2006 and since then, his heart function has improved to 50 percent.
?I have more energy than ever,? said Malo. ?You can still find me in my restaurant everyday outpacing people half my age. I?ve lived beyond those five years and will continue to prove my former doctors wrong.?
Lindeman and Malo now participate in Regenocyte seminars to share their experiences with attendees who are considering the treatment for themselves or their loved ones. In his presentation about the Regenocyte procedure, Dr. Grekos describes how blood is extracted from the patient and sent on to a laboratory where the patient?s stem cells are removed.
?The lab provides a key step in the Regenocyte process,? Dr. Grekos explained. ?The lab extracts the stem cells from the blood and activates them into millions of adult stem cells while ?educating? them to assist the exact organ that needs treatment.?
About a week after the blood arrives at the laboratory, the adult stem cells are shipped to a hospital at an international location and the patient has already been admitted.
In this ground-breaking treatment, cardiologist inserted a catheter into Lindeman and Malo?s hearts. Over the next 20 minutes, about 30 separate injections of adult stem cells were introduced into the damaged part of their hearts. The process of tissue repair began almost immediately.
Patients remain in the hospital overnight for observation, and are typically discharged the next day. Dr. Grekos continues to have regular appointments with patients to monitor their progress and measure their results.
?We continue to see remarkable results from adult stem cell treatment,? said Grekos. ?Successes like those we?ve seen with Howie and Neim are not uncommon and show significant promise for diseases in other organs.?
?I have a high stress, high energy job that I absolutely love,? says Lindeman. ?The Regenocyte adult stem cell treatment has allowed me to continue my career and enjoy the active lifestyle I thought I had lost for good. I?m a new person and I continue to feel better every day.?
Dr. Grekos and the Regenocyte medical team continue to research the impact of adult stem cell therapy on heart disease. For more information on Regenocyte Adult Stem Cell procedures, upcoming seminars, and to see videos featuring Lindeman, Malo and others, visit http://www.regenocyte.com.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) December 16, 2011
About a year ago Rick Storlie was approached by a home builder with an idea. There was nothing too out of the ordinary about this builder. He had been in business for over 25 years, built beautiful new homes and had started a remodeling division about 6 years ago.
The builder had hundreds of happy clients and a great reputation in his local market place. What was out of the ordinary was his idea.
“The builder approached me and made this statement that sort of took me aback,” Storlie said. “He said, ‘Rick, if we put as much effort into selling as we did into building we’d double our sales.’”
The builder took a few minutes to explain the building process he had painstakingly developed over 25 years.
“He had his building process broken into five areas,” Storlie commented. “Foundation, Framing, Finishes, Closing and Analysis. Nothing he described was revolutionary until he brought up his idea.”
The builder told Storlie he wanted to create a sales process that focused on the same five areas.
“He wanted to build a Foundation that consistently connected with leads and prospects,” said Storlie.
“Next, he wanted to Frame a consistent communication stream over the weeks and months it was taking people to do their research. Then he wanted to Personalize the sales process the same way his clients personalized the homes he built them,” added Storlie.
Finally the builder wanted better focus on the sales activities that would help him Close more sales and have the ability to analyze the weak points in his marketing and sales process.
“When he got done explaining his idea to me and I really thought he was on to something,” said Storlie. “This builder had the production process down to a science and wanted to do the same thing with his sales.”
Storlie and the builder agreed to work together to build this new platform and even invited a second builder in a non-competing market to join them. They toiled feverishly over the last year to develop, implement and test this new process.
On Thursday December 22nd Storlie and the two builders will be telling their story, revealing what they did and how it has affected their 2011 sales via a live webinar. Details are below.

Leading science and technology news website PhysOrg.com is spinning off its growing health and medical news section into the new website Medical Xpress ( http://medicalxpress.com ). Previously, PhysOrg covered news in the health and medical fields along with a variety of other science fields, including physics, earth science, nanotechnology, and others, at the PhysOrg.com domain. While PhysOrg will continue to cover a wide range of science and technology news, the new Medical Xpress domain will focus exclusively on health and medical advances.
The separation will enable both websites to make further developments and offer a better user experience. Having a website dedicated exclusively to health and medical research will improve the experience for visitors by making it easier to find the news they?re most interested in. While visitors can still find daily medical content on the PhysOrg.com home page, readers who are interested only in medical news can now go directly to Medical Xpress.
?Medical Xpress reaches out to readers who want to stay up to date on what?s happening in medical research,? said Andrew Zinin, PhysOrg?s managing editor. ?With the increasingly high volume of health and medical research, we want Medical Xpress to provide comprehensive, creditable, and timely web-based news coverage.?
On Medical Xpress, readers can browse medical subcategories, which include diseases, cancer, genetics, HIV & AIDS, neuroscience, cardiology, psychology & psychiatry, medications, and more. The list of the subcategories will be expanded in the near future.
As PhysOrg?s medical branch, Medical Xpress has a similar layout to PhysOrg. A unique artificial intelligence algorithm sorts news stories, highlights the most popular and recent stories, and makes it easy for visitors to quickly scan the headlines.
In order to make the division of news as painless as possible, readers who have a PhysOrg user account can use the same account on Medical Xpress. Medical Xpress offers all of the popular PhysOrg features developed throughout the past several years, such as user comments, story rankings, sharing options, and bookmarking stories for later use.
Medical Xpress also has its own RSS feeds, Facebook page, and Twitter feed, separate from those of PhysOrg. All of these options allow readers to stay up to date with the latest medical breakthroughs.
Like PhysOrg, Medical Xpress offers mobile apps for readers on the go. Readers can access the stories on Medical Xpress using specially developed apps for the iPhone/iPad, Android, and Blackberry. Readers can also subscribe to Medical Xpress through the Amazon Kindle e-reader.
In the future, the Medical Xpress editors plan to independently develop Medical Xpress with medical research in mind. Developments will include an expansion in medical news content as well as new medical features that can only be offered to the full extent by the creation of the new division.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) December 15, 2011
Applied Rigaku Technologies, Inc. today has announced an efficient and economical new method for the direct analysis of precious metals content of recovered catalytic converter cores.
The new method is detailed in application note #1095 and demonstrates the use of the Rigaku NEX CG benchtop EDXRF analyzer in the determination of precious metals in catalyst material. A typical catalytic converter contains a ceramic core coated with a layer containing a combination of platinum group metals (Pt, Pd, Rh). These converters are often recycled. Analysis of precious metals content of recovered catalytic converter cores is critical to assessing value of these elements within the automotive recycling stream.
In this application, a calibration method was built using the Rigaku RPF-SQX Fundamental Parameters template, an advanced FP program that automatically deciphers overlapping elemental peaks and models the sample matrix using fundamental XRF equations. This allows for a measurement of elemental concentrations without the need for known assayed calibration standards. A Matching Library, using three assayed samples, was employed in conjunction with the RPF-SQX to enhance the accuracy of the results.
Rigaku?s unique RPF-SQX Fundamental Parameters software offers quick, direct analysis, of powdered catalytic converter cores, without the need for a large suite of calibration standards. The Rigaku NEX CG, with its high performance Cartesian geometry and advanced yet user-friendly software, therefore provides a convenient and valuable tool for the catalytic converter recycling industry.
