Expert TA, an online homework and tutorial system for introductory level physics courses, has partnered with talented professors at leading universities to develop an original library of physics problems not tied to any specific textbook. These professors have years of experience in physics instruction, have proven to be innovators in the classroom, and have strong records in education research specifically as it applies to introductory physics.
In addition to authoring quality and original problems, this team is consulting with The Expert TA to improve their system features and core functionality in order to increase student learning and simplify physics class homework management. These system features include the ability to do partial credit grading of complex mathematical equations and a custom built equation entry palette.
?We are honored and excited to welcome this team of professors, and look forward to publishing the unique problem material they author. Our multi-step problems require students to go through the entire process of solving for a final numeric answer; with a focus on the fundamental equations related to the given concept. In our system students are given feedback necessary to help them master concepts, and due to our multi-step and detailed partial credit grading, instructors are given a better assessment of students work. Expert TA has also implemented strategies to keep the solutions to our problems from being cataloged, which reduces an avenue of cheating and encourages students to do independent work. The software is designed to help students master the theories presented in the classroom? says Jeremy Morton, PhD. and CEO of Expert TA.
The Expert TA welcomes the following professors to the team; Ronald Bieniek, PhD., the Director of Physics Content and a Professor at University of Missouri, Science and Technology. Simon Capstick, PhD., a Physics Professor at Florida State University. Stuart Loch, PhD., an Associate Physics Professor at Auburn University. Charles E. Hasty, PhD., a Physics faculty member at Oklahoma State University.
?The Expert TA has an integrated ability to evaluate student algebraic responses and identify algebra errors, sign errors, and trigonometric errors. Expert TA offers several significant advantages: its clean interface is intuitive to use with nearly painless equation entry, its interactive tutorial mode helps students learn content, and homework evaluation is delayed until a deadline which addresses the majority of academic integrity problems. I, as a member of my department?s textbook selection committee, would be glad to recommend Expert TA…? says Charles Hasty, PhD., a Physics faculty member at Oklahoma State University
About The Expert TA:
The Expert TA was designed to grade problems by considering more than just a student?s final answer. The Expert TA math engine allows for the evaluation of multi-step homework solutions that can allocate partial credit grading and can provide students multi-level feedback on their errors. Designed to grade physics homework as professors would, partial credit is given for sign errors, trigonometric errors, exponential and fractional mistakes: all with the ability to understand what the student did correctly. In Tutorial mode, students are given direct feedback on their solutions that provide instruction far beyond realizing whether they correctly found the answer in the back of the book. Instructors are provided with a much more accurate assessment of students? work and students are provided with the feedback required to help them master concepts.

Find More Science Press Releases

(PRWEB) September 27, 2011
This science website is divided into four major categories, i.e., Science Research, Science Websites, Science Reviews and Science Insights.
The Science Insights category provides information, insights and definitions about specific subjects in the life and earth sciences. It currently includes 47 topics ranging from “Historic and current aspects of RoundUp” to those of “The bacteria KPC (Klebsiella Pneumoniae Carbapenemases)”.
Among these subjects is one insight into the Durian tree (Durio sp.) which has received considerable traffic through major Internet search engines. This article primarily covers agronomic aspects of Durian cultivation including irrigation, fertilization and recommended protection practices against major pests and diseases. Since scientific classification of Durians has still not been established, the review includes taxonomic details of Durian species. It also covers attempts to isolate volatile compounds which are reason for the unique odor of Durian fruits which are so popular (“king of fruits”) in Southeast Asia.
EurekaMag.com was launched in November 1998 and has emerged as a comprehensive aggregator of content in biology, in the applied life sciences agriculture, horticulture and forestry, in the earth sciences, in the environmental sciences, and in the health sciences.
Users who wish to submit their own or their company’s content for inclusion in EurekaMag.com are welcome to submit their listing to one of the 13,705 categories. The site maintains a number of RSS feeds including one “Most Shared” feed which enables users to subscribe to their most favorite topics within the site. For better public exposure of EurekaMag.com the site also maintains and continuously updates accounts at Twitter (“@EurekaMag”), MySpace, Facebook and FeedBurner.

The recently republished online science magazine EurekaMag.com traditionally provided comprehensive definitions and scientific information in the basic and applied life, earth and health sciences. It now includes a new category to provide shorter, one-page reviews of scientific terms.
While the Life-and-Earth-Sciences Magazine was earlier divided into four major categories, i.e., Science Research, Science Websites, Science Keywords and Keyphrases, and Science Subjects, it just published another section termed Life-and-Earth-Sciences Reviews.
The Life-and-Earth-Sciences Reviews category provides more compact information, insights and definitions about specific scientific topics. While articles in its Life-and-Earth-Sciences Keyword and Life-and-Earth-Sciences Keyphrase categories are comprehensive and up to several pages in length, articles in the new Reviews category are only one page long and, consequently, more suitable to get a quick overview of the scientific topic researched. Users are advised to consult the Life-and-Earth-Sciences Reviews category to quickly get familiar with the subject and subsequently refer to the Science Keywords and Keyphrases categories for a more comprehensive review of the scientific subject. This new category contains nearly 1.1m compact articles which act as abstracts of the comprehensive reviews in the Keyword and Keyphrase categories of the Science Magazine.
Among the scientific subjects covered in both categories is one insight into “Alveofact”. Alveofact is a commercial drug containing the active ingredient Bovactant which is an extract of bovine lung commonly used as an artificial surfactant. While the comprehensive review in the Life-and-Earth-Sciences Keyword category contains two webpages and 1,602 words, the shorter Alveofact Life-and-Earth-Sciences Review in the new category extends to only one webpage with 931 words.
EurekaMag.com was launched in November 1998 and has emerged as a comprehensive aggregator of content in biology, in the applied life sciences agriculture, horticulture and forestry, in the earth sciences, in the environmental sciences, and in the health sciences. During the end of 2010 it received ca. 40,000 page impressions per day but was republished after a change of ownership in early 2011.
Users who wish to submit their own or their company’s content for inclusion in EurekaMag.com are welcome to submit their listing to one or more of the 13,705 categories. The site maintains a number of RSS feeds including one “Most Shared” feed which enables users to subscribe to news in their most favorite science topics within the site. For better public exposure the site also maintains and constantly updates accounts at Twitter (“@EurekaMag”), MySpace, Facebook and FeedBurner.
